Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s remarkable IPL 2026 season earned him his maiden India A call-up for the upcoming ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. The tournament will be played in Dambulla from June 9 to June 21.

Although, India A series usually does not generate massive interest among the broadcasters, but this time, the presence of Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a big impact. In a significant development, Sony Sports has announced that it will broadcast live India A Series matches in Sri Lanka.

Sony Sports, which holds the rights to cricket played in Sri Lanka, has decided to provide complete live coverage of the tournament. They are the official broadcast partner of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The upcoming one-day tri-series will be shown on Sony Sports and streamed on Sony Liv.

In an official announcement on Instagram, Sony Sports posted: “Suryavanshi Express is coming to light up the stage in a high-octane tri-series! 🚅💥 Watch India A take on Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in the tri-series starting 9th June, LIVE on #SonyLIV and #SonySportsNetwork.”

T20I series may get green signal!

Meanwhile, there is still no official update on the proposed three-match T20I series that could be added to the upcoming two-match Test series. However, sources close to BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket believe that the chances of the T20 series getting approval are quite high.

In another important update, BCCI has named Ruturaj Gaikwad as the replacement for vice-captain Riyan Parag. The change was made after Parag was ruled out while recovering from injury, giving Gaikwad a chance to impress the selectors for a return to the senior team.

On the other hand, Australia and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his fearless approach, ability to hit big hits and the confidence he has shown despite being so young. After watching the youngsters dominate a top-quality bowling attack in IPL 2026, Cummins admitted that it is never easy for him to bowl to.

Cummins said on Fox Cricket, “He’s a talent. He hits the ball a long way; he hits it very hard. There’s very little margin for error. He’s a real talent, he’s very difficult to bowl to. Quite a bit, and I wish he was in high school so I wouldn’t have to bowl to him. It’s unbelievable. Like, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 15-year-old bat like that, let alone a 30-year-old. Ho. Or 15, he’s a very good hitter of the ball.”
