Australia and Multan Sultans batsman Steve Smith praised his opening partner Sahibzada Farhan after Multan Sultans’ victory over Rawalpindi in the Pakistan Super League on Tuesday.
Smith scored 56 runs and Sultans reached the total of 167 runs with 10 balls to spare. Sultans captain Ashton Turner put in an important performance to take his team to the second position in the PSL 2026 points table.
Each franchise will play 10 matches in the group stage. Sultans have now won six of their eight matches and are in one place for the playoffs.

Speaking to the media after the game, Smith was asked his opinion on the quality present in the league. Smith said that PSL is a very good league.
“I mean there’s a lot of impressive players here, you know it’s been a really good league. There’s definitely a lot of talent here, you know [in] We have a lot of quality players on our team,” Smith said.

Smith also talked about his working relationship with Pakistan’s star batsman Sahibzada Farhan.
“Farhan is obviously on top. The way he takes the game forward, it’s good to bat with him, you know we’re able to work with each other and you know one day I might get off on a flyer and he starts a bit slow and the next day he’ll get off on a flyer and I’ll start slower, so it’s been a good partnership to have him.” Smith said.
Currently, Farhan is the leading run-scorer for Multan Sultans in the tournament. He has scored 269 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of more than 173. He has also scored one half-century and one century in this tournament. Farhan is also one of only four batsmen to score a century in PSL 2026, the others being Kusal Mendis, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman.

After this, Steve Smith discussed the performance of his team as well as the bowlers across the league.
“In terms of bowling, you know there are a lot of quality performers in all the teams and yes, our boys are gradually getting better and better. I thought they bowled exceptionally well today and restricted them to 167 and hopefully they continue to do better in the next few matches.” He concluded.
Currently, left-arm spinner Arafat Minhas and fast bowler Peter Siddle are the joint-highest wicket-takers for Multan Sultans in the PSL with 9 wickets each.
Multan Sultans next match
Steve Smith’s Multan Sultans will face sixth-placed Hyderabad Kingsmen on April 22. This will be Sultans’ second-last league stage match in the tournament. With victory in this match, it is certain that they will reach the playoffs.
