Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been in a very poor form and despite excelling as a captain and winning four of his six matches this season, has failed to deliver with the willow.
After Sanju Samson’s move to CSK, Rajasthan Royals appointed him as the captain of the franchise. However, many at the time argued that Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal was a better candidate to be named as the captain of the team.
However, with the RR captain still looking to be on fire with the bat and Jaiswal scoring a lot of runs for him, fan opinion is relatively changing and away from the Assam cricketer.

Parag’s poor form continues in IPL 2026, as his team got off to a poor start once again after the top-order batsmen were dismissed within the powerplay.
Parag was first dropped at the border by Prince Yadav; He could not add much runs and was out after scoring only 20 runs, and that too when he faced 19 balls and had a very slow start.
Parag attempted a switch to the mid-wicket boundary, but could not take it in the direction he wanted and instead bowled it to long-on, where Nicholas Pooran took an easy catch in the deep.

Ryan’s form has been very bad in this season of IPL. He has lacked form since the last season of the IPL in 2025, when he played under former captain Sanju Samson.
Meanwhile, his domestic performance with Assam was also unimpressive and he was dropped from the Indian team as well. The 24-year-old cricketer has scored only 81 runs after playing 7 matches in the season.
In the seven innings before today, Parag has scored 14 runs against CSK, 8 against GT, 20 against MI, 3 against RCB, 4 against Sunrisers and 12 against KKR. He failed when it mattered most for his side.
