“If you look at the win-loss ratio of teams, we always rank in the top two. We’ve got around 55-56% win ratio. So, even though we’ve had different head coaches, different captains and different teams, whatever strategy and approach we’ve used has worked. Very optimistic about this year too, really optimistic,” Venky Mysore said on Mr Cricket Podcast.

Venky Mysore proud of KKR’s smart auction move for IPL 2026

The managing director was particularly proud of KKR’s smart moves in the IPL 2026 auction. He pointed out that the franchise’s determination to bring in Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is an example of their careful planning and eye on talent.

Mysore added, “I think when it comes to auctions, there’s a lot of preparation that goes into it. You can see me out there paddling, but there’s a whole team there that works very, very hard. We were the first to use analytics in auctions since 2011.”

The KKR CEO said, “At that time, if you remember, we wiped the slate clean, released everyone, went in with all the money, and built a team that paid dividends. So, we think the strategy we adopted is solid. I think we have an excellent team. We have a great support staff, and the skill set and combination that we have is great.”

Notably, Green was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction for a record-breaking ₹25.20 crore, making him the most expensive foreign player in IPL history. He became the third most expensive player overall behind Rishabh Pant (₹27 crore) and Shreyas Iyer (₹26.75 crore).
