Shahid Afridi lashes out at son-in-law Shaheen Afridi: The India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match was once again a one-sided match for the Men in Blue as they took their lead against their neighbors to 8-1 in T20 World Cup history. The 61-run win was India’s biggest win by runs against Pakistan in men’s T20Is.
India, invited to bat first, posted a good score of 176 runs for their arch rivals. Ishan Kishan, who scored a brilliant 77 off 40 balls, looked like he was batting on a different wicket where other batsmen struggled to score runs. In the second over of the game, he welcomed Shaheen Afridi with a six.

The fast bowler gave 15 runs in the first over with the help of two fours. After that one over, Shaheen Afridi came to bowl the last over, where he gave away 16 more runs. In his two overs, Shaheen gave away 31 runs and took just one wicket on the last ball of his spell.

The Pakistan team, which came to chase the target, was already in ruins as their top order returned to the pavilion in the second over of the game itself, with Sahibzada Farhan out for a duck as Hardik Pandya had dismissed him in the very first over. Sam Ayub and captain Salman Ali Aga were picked out by Jasprit Bumrah in the second over.
Shahid Afridi fiercely targeted Shaheen Afridi
After Pakistan’s dreadful defeat, former Pakistan captain and T20 World Cup winner Shahid Afridi shared his insight on Pakistan’s problems and wants young players to be selected, and he also did not favor his son-in-law Shaheen Afridi and talked about dropping him too.
Speaking on a Pakistani news channel, Shahid Afridi said, “If I had to take a decision, I would have left Shaheen Afridi, Babar and Shadab out of the game. I would like to give a chance to the new players. I will give them confidence and give them a chance to play against Namibia.”

“We have been watching them play for a long time and expect them to do well against this team. There are a lot of senior players – if they are not performing well as senior players, why not give a chance to the junior players? What’s the difference?”
Pakistan needs to win against Namibia
Pakistan were all out for 114 runs, with Usman Khan top scoring with 44 runs and no batsman being able to go beyond the 30-run mark. Their second highest scorer was Shaheen Afridi, who scored 23 runs and remained unbeaten till the end.
Pakistan’s batsmen collapsed like a house of cards, with four Indian bowlers, Hardik, Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel taking two wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav and Tilak Verma took one wicket each. After this heavy defeat, Pakistan has slipped to third place in the table.
The Men in Green’s next and final match of the group stage is against Namibia, and they now need to win this game to qualify for the Super 8s. If Pakistan loses, they will be out of the group stage in two consecutive editions of the T20 World Cup.
