Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq shared a cryptic post on his Facebook account after his Afghan teammates signed the contracts for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 season. After the latest announcements, Naveen-ul-Haq indirectly targeted his associates Rehmanullah Gurbaz and Mujeeb ur Rehman.

Last year, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had withdrawn from the T20 tri-series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka after a fatal incident in Urgun district. In October 2025, three cricketers and five other civilians were killed in a Pakistani air strike. Pakistan said terrorist hideouts were targeted in the air strikes.

According to reports, Naveen-ul-Haq, Rehmanullah Gurbaz and Mujeeb ur Rehman had earlier agreed to stay away from the Pakistan Super League this season. The three teammates took the decision together for personal and professional reasons and wanted to remain united.

Naveen strictly followed the agreement. He ignored offers from the PSL and decided to sign a county cricket contract in England. He planned his event as promised and expected his companions to do the same. However, Gurbaz and Mujeeb later reversed their decision.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz joins Peshawar Zalmi as direct signing for PSL 11

Peshawar Zalmi have confirmed the direct contract of Rehmanullah Gurbaz for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League. Gurbaz has scored 6,244 runs in T20 cricket at a strike rate of 145.00. He bats aggressively at the top of the order and is reliable behind the stumps.

Since making his international debut in 2019, Gurbaz has been a regular for Afghanistan. He has played two Tests, 52 ODIs and 83 T20 matches for the national team. The 24-year-old player has also featured in several major franchise leagues including IPL, BPL, CPL, SA20 and ILT20.

Gurbaz has played three seasons so far in the PSL. He represented Multan Sultans in 2021 and later played for Islamabad United in 2022 and 2023. The right-handed batsman has scored 318 runs in 15 PSL matches at an average of 22.71, including one half-century.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman registers for upcoming PSL auction

According to reports, Mujeeb Ur Rahman has registered for the upcoming PSL auction. Franchises may target him due to his impressive T20 record. Mujeeb is known as a “mystery spinner” who can bowl in the powerplay and middle overs.

The spinner has taken 82 wickets in 61 T20Is at an average of 17.80 and an economy rate of 6.44, which is extraordinary for T20 cricket. He also has Pakistan Super League experience, having previously played for Peshawar Zalmi in 2021 and 2023.

The 24-year-old has taken 6 wickets in 11 PSL matches at an average of 63.50 and an economy rate of 8.65, with his best figures of 2/28. Overall, he has taken 314 wickets in 286 T20Is at an average of 23.30 and an economy rate of 6.77, including two five-wicket hauls.
