History has been made in Belfast. Ireland defeated India again and took the 2-match T20 series 2–0. The host team won the second and deciding match tonight by just 1 run. Big blow for the team captained by Shreyas Iyer.

A pure thriller at the end of the India vs Ireland T20I series. On the cards, the series looked to be a one-sided contest, but in reality, it was something that no one expected.

A huge blow for the Indian cricket team

Jai Mundhra was exceptional in the series, especially tonight, in the second match at Belfats, taking the wickets of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma in the very first over of the second innings.

When Sanju, Abhishek, Ishan Kishan and captain Shreyas Iyer were out cheaply, Tilak Verma appeared as the only remaining hope for the Indian cricket team. The middle-order batsman played a good composed innings along with Axar Patel to bring the team on the right track. Without Tilak Verma’s innings of 55 runs in 46 balls, Team India’s innings could have collapsed much earlier during the run chase.

Tilak Verma’s single effort to save the match proved insufficient.

After winning the toss, Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana gave early successes to the team in important matches. Debutant Prince Yadav was impressive. In his first T20I match, the seamer took 3 wickets. Ireland scored 154 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the first innings.

On paper there seems to be nothing to fear about the target, but Belfort’s conditions were not suitable for T20 batting. Due to rain and cloudy weather, the fast bowlers enjoyed the match to the fullest.

The last over of the match was equally powerful. Harshit Rana was at the crease and played some big hits in his cameo. Harry Tector was under a lot of pressure with the ball. Under pressure, the Irish bowlers gave away a lot of extra runs, and India, with those extra runs and Rana in the middle, slowly progressed towards the target.

When the target was just a few inches away, the plot took another twist. Harry Tector took the wicket of Harshit Rana and Tim Tector took the match-winning catch. India needed 8 runs on the last ball of the match to win the match.

Taking a stance, Prince Yadav swung the bat and sent the ball into the gallery. It was 6, but India needed 8 runs to win. Ireland claimed their second consecutive win over the Men in Blue.
