The 2–1 ODI series win against Australia resulted in the advancement of several Bangladesh international players in the latest ICC rankings for bowlers and batsmen in the One Day International format. Bangladesh’s fast bowlers were performing brilliantly against the Australian team during the entire ODI series.
According to the latest rankings for ODI bowlers, fast bowlers Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed have all made huge jumps in their rankings. Shorifull made the most of the 6-fer in the third and final ODI of the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia.

On 14 June, when Bangladesh and Australia faced each other in the third match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Shoriful Islam took 6 wickets conceding only 48 runs and one maiden run in his 10-over spell. The other two fast bowlers Mustafizur and Taskin got one success each in the match.
Following the conclusion of the 3-match ODI series, Shorifull moved up 10 places to 18th in the updated rankings for ODI bowlers, while Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are currently placed at 25th.th and 27th Location, respectively. Of the three Bangladeshi fast bowlers, Mustafizur had the most to gain as he took 12 wickets to capture 25.th place.
“Shoriful took six wickets in the series final and was rewarded by moving up 10 places to 18th in the updated ODI bowlers’ rankings, while Rahman (up 12 places to 25th) and Taskin (up five places to 27th) also moved up after some good efforts against the Australians,” the International Cricket Council said on its official website.
Tauhid Hridoy has made significant progress in the rankings
Bangladesh ODI team’s middle-order batsman Tauheed Hridoy was rewarded for his impressive batting against Australia in the series. Hridayoy scored a total of 154 runs in the ODI series, including an inning of 83 runs in the third ODI, which took him to 20.th from 27th ICC ODI Batsmen Ranking Positions.
“Tawhid Hridoy scored 154 runs with a best of 83 in the three-match series, and the right-handed batsman gained seven places to reach 20th position in the updated list of ODI batsmen,” the official update said.
Who is on top of the ranking list?
Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz is currently the only Bangladeshi bowler in the top 10 list of the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings. Mehdi is currently in 8th placeth Ahead of Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi with 604 points. Afghanistan’s Rasheed Khan tops the rankings for ODI bowlers with 696 points. From India’s side is Kuldeep Yadav, who is in seventh place with 618 points.
In the ODI batsmen’s rankings, there is another player from the Tiger Brigade to feature in the top 20 along with Tauheed Hridoy. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell tops the rankings with 815 points, and Virat Kohli is second with 783 runs. There are a total of four Indian batsmen, including Virat, in the top 10 of the rankings for ODI batsmen.
