The ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) is making headlines not only because of explosive batting and game-changing spells but also due to off-field controversies.
IPL teams have reportedly started being very strict about players’ social media activity and personal content, and the latest names in the spotlight are Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, both representing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2026.

Punjab Kings ban Arshdeep Singh for vlogging in IPL 2026
Arshdeep Singh, who is very popular among fans for his funny vlogs and behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube and other social media platforms, has reportedly been asked by his IPL franchise, Punjab Kings (PBKS) to stop his vlogging activities for the remaining season.

The left-arm pacer’s videos usually feature travelogues, team fun and dressing room moments and fans enjoy watching the story of PBKS during the IPL season. But now Arshdeep has been banned from doing so by PBKS, as they now want to be careful about what is being shared online to avoid unnecessary controversy and focus on the business end of the tournament.

Yuzvendra Chahal in trouble amid IPL 2026
Now a big controversy has arisen over another incident related to Yuzvendra Chahal. The leg spinner, who was recently in the news for vaping on a flight, reportedly missed his team’s flight on May 7. He will now travel separately and join the team in Dharamshala on May 8.
Notably, social media users shared screenshots and video clips from Arshdeep Singh’s vlog and claimed that Chahal was seen using a vape while traveling with the Punjab Kings team from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad earlier this week.
Many users also claimed that the original vlog was later edited and shortened to remove parts featuring the senior spinner. This was the second vaping incident in the ongoing 2026 season, when Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was fined for vaping inside the dressing room during a live match.
These incidents have made franchises even more serious about discipline and social media control during the tournament. Interestingly, Delhi Capitals had already given clear instructions to its players, support staff and even family members regarding videos and social media posts.

Both Chahal and Arshdeep have been the leading bowlers for PBKS this season. While the Punjab fast bowler has taken 11 wickets in 10 matches, the leg spinner has taken 8 wickets in 10 matches.
Punjab Kings are feeling the pressure after three consecutive defeats
Punjab Kings have lost momentum after their six-match winning streak was broken this season. However, they are still one of the strongest teams and are second in the points table with 13 points from 10 matches despite losing three consecutive games.
But the pressure is gradually increasing as the race for the playoffs intensifies. PBKS now move to Dharamshala, their second home ground, for three very important matches. PBKS will first play against Delhi Capitals on May 11, then take on Mumbai Indians on May 14, before the big match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dharamshala on May 17.
They will conclude their league stage on May 23 against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow.
