There is a strict ban on e-cigarettes in India. Selling, using or promoting all activities related to e-cigarettes are considered illegal activities in India. According to the video clip of Yuzvendra Chahal, it seems that he was vaping in the plane.

If it is proved that Chahal was vaping inside the airplane then it can create big trouble for him. Now, he can easily attract BCCI action, legal issues or even a penalty sanctioned by the airline.

Yuzvendra Chahal was seen vaping in Arshdeep Singh’s video

According to a report in Times of India, Punjab Kings were traveling to Hyderabad for their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 6. During the trip, Arshdeep Singh uploaded a video featuring several PBKS players.

In the video, viewers can clearly see that Chahal was sitting at the window with his PBKS teammate Shashank Singh. When the camera went towards Chahal, he caught something and then left it.

Due to this act, the PBKS star may have to face many consequences, as the rules against e-cigarettes are quite strict. Both imprisonment and fines are possible under the Electronic Cigarette Act (PECA). For a first-time offense involving production, transportation or distribution, there is a jail term of up to one year or a fine of Rs 1 lakh, or both.

Aviation rules are strict against such acts

Aviation regulations, which everyone must follow when flying, are also against e-cigarettes. Vaping during flight is a violation of the Aircraft Rules, 1937 and recent DGCA safety circulars. The rule clearly mentions that there is a complete ban on carrying e-cigarettes in cabin baggage or checked luggage.

If someone is flagged as an “unruly passenger”, meaning if someone is caught vaping inside an airplane, depending on the level of the offense, the passenger may be banned from flying for a period ranging from 3 months to a lifetime.

The Indian Premier League, which is run under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), also does not support such actions in any way. Under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct, a player who is accused of using banned substances such as e-cigarettes can be fined 25% of the match fee and given one demerit point.

PBKS may take action against Yuzvendra Chahal personally

Additionally, Punjab Kings may impose its own internal fine or suspension for violating team protocols and publicly damaging the brand image.

These are some of the possibilities that Yuzvendra Chahal may have to face in the near future. But nothing is official yet. So far no government body has issued any statement regarding the incident.
