CSK spinner Akeal Hosein is yet to make his debut for Chennai Super Kings, and in the meantime, he is busy praising his JSK teammate Dianne Forrester from SA20 after batting diligently against Pakistan’s experienced spinner Mohammad Nawaz in the PSL.
The struggles of Chennai Super Kings have been evident in this edition of the IPL. Since they have not won a single match yet in this edition of the IPL, one of their star picks in the mini-auction, Akeal Hosein, has shown inclination towards the PSL and has grabbed attention with the social media pick.
He has been playing for Super Kings in other leagues like SA20 and MLC. He has represented teams like Joburg Super Kings and Texas Super Kings in the above two leagues.

While being benched by CSK in the IPL, Akeal Hosein has set his sights on the PSL proceedings where he watched a match between Multan Sultans and Rawalpindi Pindies.
She saw some fireworks from her Joburg Super Kings teammate, young Dianne Forrester, who hit Sultans spinner Mohammad Nawaz for three consecutive sixes in her innings of 24 runs off just 11 balls.
On 6 April, Hosein posted on his Instagram handle praising Forrester’s batting. He made important contributions along with half-century scorer Sam Billings. The Proteas all-rounder was dismissed by experienced bowler Peter Siddle.
Why did CSK not give debut to Akeal Hosein despite appeals from former stars?
Akeal Hosein is waiting for a chance to prove himself in the IPL. Anyway, CSK’s overseas strength has diminished as stars like Dewald Brewis have been ruled out due to injury, while Nathan Ellis has been ruled out, and finally, Spencer Johnson is still yet to join the team.
Matt Short was also removed after the first game; However, Noor Ahmed, the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL last season, has been backed by the Super Kings management.
Star cricketers like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ambati Rayudu have been consistently supporting Akeal Hosein to be a part of the CSK unit. He could be a possible solution to CSK’s spin bowling problems.
Akeal Hosein’s record for Super Kings
Akeal Hosein, the left-arm orthodox spinner of the Super Kings team, has featured in several global leagues in the shortest format of the game. However, Hosein has also been out of form recently. During the ICC T20 World Cup, he managed to take 7 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 23.28.
Furthermore, while playing for Texas Super Kings in the MLC in 2025, he took 10 wickets in 7 matches with an average of 9.60 and an impressive economy of 4.80, despite taking the ball in the powerplay.
