Avesh Khan provided the biggest breakthrough for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) thanks to a brilliant diving catch by Rishabh Pant in the IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, April 5, as the fast bowler dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a shocking batting collapse as they lost both their dangerous openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma for just 8 runs, and then captain Ishan Kishan was out for just one run, followed by Liam Livingstone for just 14 runs.

When SRH found themselves in deep trouble at 26/4, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy took charge and brought the hosts back on track from a precarious position. They made a partnership of 116 runs for the fifth wicket and took the Hyderabad franchise to a respectable score.

But Manimaran Siddharth managed to dismiss Reddy after scoring 56 runs off 33 balls and this wicket started another collapse for SRH against LSG at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Right after losing Reddy in the 18th over, SRH lost another big wicket in the form of Klaasen in the 19th over. They lost their set batsmen within three balls.

Heinrich Klaasen, who was batting aggressively, tried to play a reverse shot against Avesh Khan on a full ball that hit the stumps. But the shot went wrong as the ball flew much finer than Heinrich Klaasen expected. And Lucknow Super Giants wicketkeeper-batsman Pant responded immediately.
The LSG skipper made a full dive to his right and took a clean catch, which left the SRH camp and the crowd stunned. Avesh celebrated with an aggressive departure as SRH lost another set and dangerous batsman after Nitish Kumar Reddy in the ongoing clash.

Dramatic innings by LSG vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad had one of the most dramatic innings of this IPL season. He had a nightmare start after being asked to bat first in Hyderabad, but he recovered bravely and then slipped again towards the end of his innings.

After all the ups and downs, SRH somehow managed to score 156 runs on the board against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Mohammed Shami struck twice with the new ball, dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head with clever slower balls. Soon after, Prince Yadav produced a beautiful in-seamer to dismiss Ishan Kishan, and SRH were reeling at 11/3.
And then, Liam Livingstone couldn’t figure out his timing and eventually lost to Digvesh Rathi. But then came the only bright phase of the innings. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen joined hands and SRH were back in control. But LSG made a strong comeback in the death overs.
Since the Hyderabad franchise managed to post a modest total of 156 runs, the pressure of defending this score against a confident LSG team has now shifted to their bowlers as they aim for their first win in the ongoing IPL 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
