A dramatic but surprising moment between two former teammates, Ryan Parag and Sanju Samson, from the IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati has gone viral.
Rhea Parag’s swift and aggressive reaction was seen as a direct mockery of her former Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, who joined Chennai Super Kings in a high-profile trade deal before the start of the current season. In return, RR got Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
Riyan Parag fired at Sanju Samson? Muscle-flex celebration leads to big IPL drama
The incident occurred on the last ball of the 11th over during Royals’ successful chase of 128 against the five-time champions. Noor Ahmed bowled the ball on leg stump and Parag produced a perfectly timed reverse hit which flew smoothly over deep extra cover for a thumping six.

Right after the ball went into the stands, the RR captain turned around, raised his arms and flexed his biceps intensely. Cameras caught him mimicking Samson’s famous muscle-flex celebration in the CSK wicketkeeper’s face in Guwahati.
It almost seemed like the local poster boy was sending a message to the Kerala star, who was not happy with the intensity of the RR captain at the time.

Tension runs high as Parag celebrate Samson’s signing
This was not the first time that Parag had done this in the same match. During the CSK innings, when Samson was bowled by Nandre Berger for just 6 runs, the RR captain once again showed the same “biceps pose”.
As the CSK wicketkeeper-batsman walked away dejectedly, Parag looked at him intently and celebrated aggressively. However, the flexibility of the Assam star’s muscles was not on full display. Parag’s gestures attracted more attention because they are Samson’s signature style.
The right-handed batsman usually makes this gesture whenever he achieves a milestone, using it as a reminder of self-confidence and strength. So, when Parag did it thrice, once when RR crushed CSK, and that too right in front of Samson, it felt as if he was making fun of his former captain.

Riyan Parag’s master trap for Sanju Samson
Meanwhile, Riyan Parag revealed about his clever master plan against Samson during the IPL 2026 clash. He watched his former teammate’s first few balls closely and realized how to trap him before getting comfortable, as he knew his style having bowled to him in the nets.

Even the four hit by Samson was part of the setup, because Parag wanted him to go for that risky shot. With the field being perfect, Berger stuck to his plan and dismissed Samson completely.
Parag said in the post-match presentation, “I think for Sanju Bhai; it was the first three balls or the first four balls that we wanted to execute something. It went well, so we went ahead with it. And we were just trying to target where he plays his first three balls or where he plays his first four to five balls and then just set the fielders accordingly and ask them to hit a better shot or hit a different shot, which then “It’s like a gamble, but then it gives us a lot of leverage in our way.”
